Adella J. (Gruszkos) Rohan Strycharz, 91, of Chicopee, died peacefully surrounded by her family on August 10, 2017 at Wingate of South Hadley. Adella was born on November 16, 1925 at the family home. She was the daughter of the late William and Mary (Kot) Gruszkos. After high school, Adella worked at the family’s grocery store as did other family members. Then she worked for a few years at the former F. W. Sickles Corp. Adella worked as a secretary at Savage Arms for thirty one years and was the secretary of the office union. She was active in sports and organized a 10 Team mixed bowling league and played some golf. Del was very active in the Polish National Alliance, Group 711 and was the secretary and treasurer. She was the Beautiful Years secretary and ran trips to Foxwoods. Adella and Edward loved road trips and always followed the Red Sox and Patriots. She was a member of the Chicopee Falls Women’s Club and enjoyed dancing. Adella is predeceased by her husband of forty one years, Edward Strycharz, a daughter, Christine Revela, along with her siblings, twin sister, Phyllis Pirog and her husband Max, Viola Gruszkos, Josephine Gruszkos, John Gruszkos and his wife Julise, Tadeus Gruszkos and his wife, Teresa, a nephew John Gruszkos, Jr., niece Michelina Woods and her husband Michael. Adella leaves behind her cherished and beloved son, Walter Rohan and his companion, Simone, stepson, Edward Strycharz and his wife Linda, stepdaughter, Elizabeth Mathis and her husband Michael, nine step grandchildren and three great grandchildren and a great great grandson, Liam, a niece Joanne Gruszkos and nephew William and his wife, Laura Gruszkos. Adella’s funeral will be held on Monday, August 14, 2017 from the Cierpial Memorial Funeral Home on 69 East St. in Chicopee Falls at 9 am followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial in the Basilica of St. Stanislaus at 10 am. Burial will be in St. Stanislaus Cemetery. Calling hours are on Sunday from 6 to 8 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Polish Center of Discovery and Learning, 33 South St., Chicopee 01013.
