Alfred J. Konicki, 94, of Chicopee, died on Tuesday, April 14, 2020 at the East Longmeadow Skilled Nursing Center. He was a retired foreman at Chicopee Undergarment Co. Alfred was born on December 12, 1925 in Chicopee and was the son of the late Walenty and Agatha (Lubasz) Konicki. He was a communicant of the Basilica of St. Stanislaus Bishop and Martyr and was an usher, charter member and founder of the St. Stanislaus Bingo. Alfred was a pierogi maker and bazaar volunteer. He was the “Man Of The Year” and financial secretary of the Holy Name Society at the basilica. He is survived by his two sons, Thomas and his wife, Catherine of Springfield and Gary and his wife, Tammy of Taylors, SC and his daughter, Karen Garstka and her husband, Daniel of East Longmeadow and five grandchildren Darryl Konicki, Timothy D. Garstka, Elyse Konicki, Laura Konicki & Amy Konicki. Alfred is predeceased by his wife, Dorothy (Matosky) Konicki who died on September 20, 1995 and his seven siblings. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the St. Stanislaus School Endowment Fund, 534 Front St., Chicopee, MA 01013. The family would like to express their deep appreciation to the staff at East Longmeadow Skilled Nursing Center who cared for Alfred with kindness and Fallon Health Care/Summit Eldercare for their kindness and support, especially Dr. Julie Silberstein & Lisa Clear, BSN,RN. Burial will be in St. Stanislaus Cemetery. Cierpial Memorial Funeral Home is entrusted for final arrangements.
