Alice B. (Bogdan) Robak, 100, of Chicopee, has gone home to heaven on Thursday, December 21, 2017, peacefully in her sleep at Chicopee Gardens Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. She was a retired secretary for the City of Chicopee Planning Board. Alice was born on September 21, 1917 in the Chicopee Falls section of Chicopee and was a life-long resident. She was the daughter of the late Marek and Karolina (Glowacka) Bogdan. Alice was a communicant of the Basilica of St. Stanislaus Bishop and Martyr and a member of the St. Vincent Benevolent Society. She was one of eleven sisters and one brother. Family was very important to Alice who loved to cook and was proud of her Polish heritage. She enjoyed bowling, jewelry and clothes. Alice also did volunteer work for various groups. She is predeceased by her husband, Frank L. Robak, who died on Oct. 8, 1998, her brother, Mark “Mike” Bogdan, and sisters, Mary Paluch, Josephine Thornlow, Frances Ryder, Genevieve Elie, Mildred Irzyk, Elizabeth Strycharz, Dorothy Martin and Barbara Bienia. Alice is survived by her two daughters, Francine A. Rusiecki and her husband, Richard of Ludlow and Carol A. Robak of Chicopee; two sisters, Pat Bourdeau of N. Carolina and Phyllis McKay of East Springfield; three grandchildren, Jill Rae and her husband James, Diana Sands and her husband, Michael and Larry Rusiecki and his wife Beverley, five great grandchildren, Mackenzie, Patrick, Maxwell, Grace and Nadia and many nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank the dedicated Hospice , CNA’s, Nurses and Activities Staff at the Chicopee Gardens for their kindness, caring and compassion for our mother, Alice. Alice’s funeral will be held on Wednesday, December 27, 2017 from the Cierpial Memorial Funeral Home on 69 East St., in Chicopee Falls at 9 am, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial in the Basilica of St. Stanislaus at 10 am. Burial will be in St. Stanislaus Cemetery. Calling hours are on Tuesday from 4 to 7 pm.
