Alphonse “Al” W. Topor, 92, of Chicopee, died on Wednesday, October 3, 2018 at Mercy Medical Center. He was born on February 15, 1926 in Chicopee. Alphonse was a son of the late John and Hedwig (Skop) Topor. He was a retired machinist at Savage Arms Corp. in Westfield. After his retirement, he was a security guard at the Springfield Museums. Al was a communicant of the Basilica of St. Stanislaus and was a WWII Army veteran. He loved watching the Red Sox, Patriots, Bruins, Celtics and Notre Dame. He is predeceased by his wife, Jane B. (Niziolek) Topor, two brothers, John and Edward and a sister, Helen Sawicki. Al is survived by a son, Daniel Topor of Chicopee, a daughter, Kathleen Topor of North Providence, RI, two sisters, Virginia Farley and Jane Sady and his dog, Snoopy. The funeral will be held on Saturday, October 6, 2018 from the Cierpial Memorial Funeral Home, 69 East St. in Chicopee Falls at 9 am. followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at the Basilica of St. Stanislaus at 10 am. Burial will be in St. Stanislaus Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Saturday morning at the funeral home from 8:30 to 9:30 am. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Stanislaus Cemetery, 40 Cyman Dr., Chicopee, MA 01013.
