Charles R. Couture, 82, of Chicopee, died on Saturday, September 2, 2017 at home with his family by his side. He was born on April 24, 1935 in Chicopee and was the son of the late Archie and Rose Alma (Garvis) Couture. Charles was a communicant of the Basilica of St. Stanislaus Bishop and Martyr and a Korean Army veteran. He was a retired barber. Charles loved spending time with his grandkids. His best quality was making people laugh. Everyone will miss his jokes and stories. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and dogs. He is survived by his wife of fifty-three years, Gloria A. (Fontaine) Couture; three daughters, Pamela Frappier and her husband, John, of Granby, Sharon Trembley and her husband, David of Granby and Brenda Couture of Chicopee; a sister, Norma Topor of Chicopee; five grandchildren, Alicia Frappier, Julia Frappier, Ryan Trembley, Jeremy Trembley and Kristen Trembley and many nieces and nephews. Charles is predeceased by his brothers and sisters, Yvette Gregoire, Estelle Sherman, Gilbert, Bernice Phenner and Douglas. The funeral for Charles will be held on Thursday, September 7, 2017 from the Cierpial Memorial Funeral Home on 69 East St. at 8:45 am, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial in the Basilica of St. Stanislaus at 9:45 am. His burial, with military honors will follow in the Massachusetts Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 1390 Main St. in Agawam. Calling hours are on Wednesday from 4 to 7 pm.
