Elaine A. (Roux) Scanlon, 73, of Chicopee, died on Thursday, September 10, 2015 at Mercy Medical Center in Springfield. She was a retired registered nurse at Wesson Women’s Hospital, Springfield Municipal Hospital and Willimansett Nursing Center. Elaine was born on May 14, 1942 in Holyoke and was the daughter of the late Raoul H. and Suzanne R. (Blais) Roux. She was a communicant of St. Rose de Lima Church, a 1959 graduate of Holy Name High School and a 1965 graduate of the Holyoke Hospital School of Nursing. She loved traveling to Disney World.

Besides her parents, she is predeceased by her step-mother, Lillian (Ball) Roux and her former husband, John “Jack” Scanlon. She is survived by two sons and a daughter, Scott M. Scanlon of Simsbury, CT, Dr. Kelly A. Scanlon-Chase of Ludlow and David M. Scanlon and his wife Liz, of Broad Brook CT.; a sister, Suzanne I. Viens and her husband, Richard of Chicopee; a step sister, Barbara A. Walat and her husband, Henry, of Morrisville, VT; a grandson, Brandon M. Scanlon, a nephew, Rik Viens of Chicopee and a niece, Shelly Gosselin and her husband, Jim of Chicopee.

Elaine’s funeral will be held on Thursday, September 17, 2015 from the Cierpial Memorial Funeral Home on 69 East St. in Chicopee Falls at 8:30 am, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial in St. Rose de Lima Church at 9:30 am. Her burial will be in St. Rose de Lima Cemetery. Visitation will be on Thursday morning from 8 to 9 am. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
