Erwin P. Brut, 88, of Ludlow, died on Sunday, October 23, 2016 at Baystate Medical Center. He was born on January 9, 1928 in Wilbraham and lived in Ludlow most of his life. Erwin was the son of the late Peter and Josephine (Sniezyk) Brut. He was a communicant of Christ the King Church and a member of the Polish American Veterans in Wilbraham. Erwin was a Navy Submariner on the USS Torsk, during World War II. As a young adult, Erwin’s first job was at Indian Motor Cycle in Springfield. He then went on to National Metals as a Tool and Die Maker, retiring in 1991. He was an avid outdoorsman, who enjoyed hunting, fishing and playing golf. Road trips to historical places were special to him, his children and grandchildren. Erwin loved vacationing at the beach…Cape Cod, Hampton Beach, NH and later in life at York, ME. He is survived by his wife, Gladys A. (Opon) Brut; two daughters, Karen Bourgeault and her husband, Robert of Southwick and Susan Fish and her husband, James of Enfield, CT; a son, Kevin Brut and his wife, Carol of Westfield; three grandchildren, Brian Bourgeault, David Brut and Michael Brut and a family friend, Jeannette Bazinet of Chicopee. Erwin’s family and friends will gather on Monday morning, October 31, 2016 at the Kapinos-Mazur Funeral Home on 64 Sewall St. in Ludlow from 9:30 to 10:30 am. A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be held at Christ the King Church, 41 Warsaw Ave. at 11 am. Burial will follow in the Massachusetts Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Agawam at 1 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Shriners Hospital for Children, 516 Carew St., Springfield, MA 01104.
