Frieda Swiatlowski, 96, passed September 10, 2016. She was the wife of the late Michael Swiatlowski, of Westfield, MA. Born in Springfield, MA, she lived in Westfield most of her adult life, before moving to Florida. After some years in Florida, she returned to live in Monson, MA to be near the family she loved. She was employed by Massachusetts Mutual Insurance Company for 25 years and retired in 1985 as an actuary. Frieda was creative all her life. She was a gifted baker and created her own business as a designer of wedding cakes for friends, family and associates for over 20 years. She also loved crafts, and created and designed her own hooked rugs, hand dying the wool. She was an avid seamstress, sewing dresses and draperies for herself and others. She loved her gardens. Her green thumb grew prized irises and peonies each year. Her knitting and crocheting in later years gave her family heirlooms to treasure. Frieda is survived by her 4 daughters, Jude Pokorny of Monson, Barbara Gardner of Portland, CT., Janis Bishop of East Haddam, CT., Sandra Lake of Dalton, MA, 8 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren. The family will receive friends on Saturday, Sept 17th from 10:30-11:30, with a service at 11:30 am at Cierpial Funeral Home, 61 Grape St, Chicopee, MA. Committal ceremonies will follow the service at St. Stanislaus Cemetery in Chicopee.
