Helena (Wosko) Stanczak, 97, of Chicopee, died on Saturday, September 5, 2020 at Willimansett West in Chicopee with her family at her side. She was a retired seamstress at Elco Dress Co. retiring in 1989. Helena also worked at Chicopee Undergarment, Asinof Co. and A. G. Spalding Corporation. She was born on March 20, 1923 in Oparowka, Poland. Helena was the daughter of the late Paul and Mary (Finik) Wosko. She was a communicant of St. Anthony of Padua Church and a member of the St. Anthony Rosary Sodality. Helena enjoyed sewing and gardening. She especially enjoyed being with her family and cooking polish foods for them. She is predeceased by her husband, Peter Stanczak, two brothers, Ferdinand and Walter Wosko and a sister, Geraldine Gabrysz. Helena is survived by her two sons, Roman Stanczak and his wife, Judy of Chicopee and Jerry Stanczak and partner, Donna of Springfield; sister, Stefanie Gloster and her husband, Richard of Palmer and a sister-in-law, Phyllis Wosko of Chicopee; four grandchilden, Cindy Boucher and Chris, Darlene Fredette and Andy, Suzanne Stanczak and Kimberly Stanczak and Jason McBride; 6 great grandchildren, Alyson Boucher, Brandon Boucher, Noah Fredette, Miles Fredette, Nikolas McBride and Jakob McBride and several nieces and nehews. The family would like to thank the staff at Willimansett West and Health Care Aids, Agnes and Panie Mica for their loving and compassionate care to Helena. They would also like to thank the Krol families and the late Stephen Krol, for their friendship and kindness thru the years. Helena’s funeral will be held on Friday, September 11, 2020 from the Cierpial Memorial Funeral Home on 61 Grape St. in Chicopee at 9 am, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial in St. Anthony of Padua Church, 56 St. Anthony St. in Chicopee at 10 am. Burial will be in St. Stanislaus Cemetery in Chicopee. Calling hours are on Thursday from 5 to 7 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Shriners Hospital for Children, 516 Carew St., Springfield, MA 01104.
