Irene J. (Swiatlowski) Cerrato, 85, of Chicopee, died on Sunday, May 8, 2016 at Redstone in East Longmeadow. She was a bookkeeper for various companies. Irene was born on October 19, 1930 in Ludlow and lived in Chicopee most of her life. She was the daughter of the late Walter and Bertha (Panek) Swiatlowski. Irene was a graduate of Ludlow High School and attended Business School.
She is predeceased by her husband, Joseph Cerrato, six sisters, Sophie Kosla, Stella Zabek, Helen Papuzenski, Adeline Pirog, Stephania Lech, and Jane Swiatek and two brothers, Mitchell and Michael. Irene is survived by many nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be held on Sunday, May 15, 2016 from 1 to 3 pm at the Cierpial Memorial Funeral Home on 61 Grape St. in Chicopee. A funeral home service will be on Sunday afternoon at 2:30 pm. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 59 Bobola Rd., Holyoke, MA. 01040.
