Jean (Hovey) Kusek, 91, of Holyoke, died Monday, August 13, 2018 at Mt. St. Vincent Care Center in Holyoke. She was born on May 6, 1927 in Griffithstown, Wales and was the daughter of Arthur and Phoebe Jane (Hopkins) Hovey.  Jean came to the U.S. in 1947 and worked as a teachers’ aid in the Holyoke Public School System. She liked gardening and enjoyed traveling and watching movies. Jean is pre-deceased by her husband, Edward W. Kusek; a daughter, Susan Kusek and twin sister, Joan Moody. She is survived by her three sons, Robert Kusek of Holyoke, Ronald Kusek and his wife, Lisa of Chicopee and Michael Kusek of Northampton; three grandchildren, Christopher Kusek of Warwick, RI, Amanda Kusek from Queens, NY and Jonathan Kusek of Holyoke; and a niece, Kathleen Henry of Holyoke. Family and friends may gather on Thursday, August 16, 2018 at the Cierpial Memorial Funeral Home on 61 Grape St., in Chicopee Center from 10 to 11 am, with a funeral home service at 11 am. Jean’s burial will be in Mater Dolorosa Cemetery in South Hadley.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions maybe made to the Resident Council, Mt. St. Vincent Care Center, 35 Holy Family Rd. Holyoke, MA  01040.
