Lorraine R. “Mona” (LaBombard) Czepiel, 86, of Chicopee went home to be with the Lord on June 8, 2017. She made fast friends with everyone she met, loved life, her family, friends and the church. Lorraine was born on September 2, 1930 to the late Felix and Mary Ellen LaBombard. She was a communicant of the Basilica of St. Stanislaus Bishop and Martyr and a graduate of Holyoke High School. Lorraine loved to play bingo, cards and pokeno with the girls. She was a Charter Member of Women of the Moose Chapter 1489 in Chicopee. Lorraine was also a member of the Beautiful Years Club, VFW Ladies Auxiliary and St. Vincent de Paul Society. She was predeceased by her husband, Frederick J. Czepiel, her son, Frederick J. Czepiel, Jr., her sister, Eleanor Hurst and her son-in-law, Daniel Desmarais. Lorraine is survived by her daughters, Suzan Desmarais and Jean Hebert and her husband, Daniel, grandchildren, Carrie Desmarais, Jeffrey Desmarais, Michael Hebert and his fiancée, Brooke, Bryan Hebert and his wife, Kristy and Benjamin Hebert and his wife Megan, 8 great grandchildren, Zakary, Jakob, Matthew, Caleb, Noah, Joseph, Suzanna and Sarah along with several nieces and nephews. The family would like to give special thanks to Dr. Francis Martinez who approached every conversation and option with the care he would give to his own family and the nursing staff on the third floor of the Holyoke Medical Center, who always went out of the way to make her smile. Special thanks are also given to the Holyoke VNA Hospice Life Care for their support and compassion. Lorraine’s funeral will be held on Tuesday, June 13, 2017 from the Cierpial Memorial Funeral Home on 69 East St. in Chicopee Falls at 8:30 am, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial in the Basilica of St. Stanislaus at 9:30 am. Burial will be in St. Rose De Lima Cemetery in Chicopee. Visiting hours are on Monday from 4 to 7 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Stanislaus School Playground Fund, 534 Front St., Chicopee, MA 01013.
