Michael Wojtowicz, 85, of Chicopee, died on Wednesday, January 17, 2018 at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield. He was a retired forty six year master marine mechanic for the Bassett Boat Co. in Springfield. Michael was born on January 1, 1933 in Chicopee and was a lifelong resident. He was the son of the late Adam and Eleanora (Kowal) Wojtowicz. He was a communicant of the Basilica of St. Stanislaus Bishop and Martyr. Michael was an Army veteran during the Korean Conflict and a lifelong member of the VFW, Post 625 in Chicopee. He enjoyed lawn work, boating, water skiing and loved fishing with his brothers, Frank and Joe at Quabbin Reservior. Michael is survived by two brothers, Joseph of Chicopee and his identical twin brother, Frank and his wife, Phyllis of Ludlow and two nephews, Richard and James Wojtowicz and a niece Joana Albano. Besides his parents, he is predeceased by two brothers, Stanley and Edward and two sisters, Helen Wojtowicz and Baby Stefania. Michael’s funeral will be held on Monday, January 22, 2018 from the Cierpial Memorial Funeral Home on 69 East St. in Chicopee Falls at 9 am, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial in the Basilica of St. Stanislaus at 10 am. Burial will be in St. Stanislaus Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Basilica of St. Stanislaus, 566 Front St., Chicopee, MA 01013.
