Valerya A. “Millie” (Chmura) Robak, 100, of Chicopee, died on Friday, August 18, 2017 at home. She was an expert sewing and tailoring instructor at Chicopee Comprehensive High School and in East Longmeadow. Millie was born on September 16, 1916 in Chicopee, lived in Enfield and in Chicopee after her marriage. She was the daughter of the late John P. and Nellie (Piela) Chmura. Millie was a communicant of the Basilica of St. Stanislaus Bishop and Martyr and a member of the Rosary and St. Vincent de Paul Societies. She was also a member of the Polish National Alliance and the Polish American Veterans Auxilary. Millie adored her dogs, who gave her great enjoyment and companionship. She also enjoyed sewing and gardening. Besides her parents, Millie is predeceased by her husband, Frederick J. Robak, who died November 20, 2001. She is survived by her children, Darlene Lemiech and her husband, William of Somers, CT, John F. Robak and his wife, Carol of Chicopee and Jacalyn Connors and her husband, John of VT; six grandchildren, Jennifer (Stephen) Iervolino, Melissa Lemiech, Brendan Connors, Christian Connors, Julia Robak and Samantha Robak and four great grandchildren. Millie’s funeral will be held on Wednesday, August 23, 2017 from the Cierpial Memorial Funeral Home on 61 Grape St. in Chicopee Center at 9 am followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial in the Basilica of St. Stanislaus at 10 am. Burial will be in St. Stanislaus Cemetery. Calling hours are on Tuesday, from 4 to 7 pm. Memorial contributions may be made to Jericho, 573 Northampton St., Holyoke, MA 01040.
