Wanda Eve Wegrzyn of Fort Myers, Florida; York Beach, Maine, and Chicopee, Massachusetts, passed away peacefully on Monday, July 16 at HealthPark Medical Center in Fort Myers. Her husband of 60 years, Mitchell, and her daughter Karen and grandson Andrew were by her side. Wanda was first diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in 2013 and fought a valiant and courageous battle for five years, all the while maintaining a positive outlook, her warm smile, a twinkle in her eye, an uplifting sense of humor, and unwavering faith. The constant support of family and many friends helped Wanda brave the tribulations of the latter part of her life lived with illness.

Wanda was born on December 24, 1939 in Brooklyn, NY, and later moved with her parents, Mary (Pelic) Noga and John Noga to Massachusetts and then settled in Chicopee. She attended St. Stanislaus School and Chicopee High School, graduating in 1957. She married Mitchell Joseph Wegrzyn, also of Chicopee, in 1958. They lived in Springfield, MA and then Chicopee for 35 years. Wanda held several administrative positions over the years and then became a real estate agent with Bourdeau Real Estate in Chicopee. Wanda and Mitchell moved to York Beach, ME in 1993 and enjoyed managing their family jewelry business, All Occasions, Inc., within Shelton’s at York Beach for 12 years. Following retirement, Wanda and Mitchell shared their fun times between York Beach and Fort Myers. Wanda enjoyed spending time with her beloved family and friends; playing games, especially card games and those on her Kindle; visiting the beach, reading, traveling, watercolor painting, crafting, decorating, and celebrating Polish holidays, food, and traditions.

Wanda leaves her beloved husband Mitchell of Fort Myers, cherished daughter Karen (Wegrzyn) Long and her husband Paul C. Long of Concord, MA, and her wonderful grandsons Andrew, Aidan, and Ismael. She also leaves her beloved brother John and his wife Judy of Chicopee; brother-in-law Jack and his wife Gayle of North Port, FL; brother-in-law Fred and his wife Terry Goudreau of Venice, FL and Foxboro, MA, and sister-in-law Dorothy Gloster of Springfield, MA. She also leaves behind many dear nieces, nephews, Godchildren, and friends in Massachusetts, Maine, and Florida.

Funeral arrangements are with Cierpial Funeral Home on 61 Grape Street in Chicopee Center. Family and friends are invited to visitation hours on Friday, August 17 from 4:00 – 7:00, Wanda’s funeral will be held on Saturday, August 18, from the Cierpial Memorial Funeral Home at 8:45 a.m. followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial in the St. Stanislaus Basilica at 10 am, Wanda’s home parish. Burial is at St Stanislaus Cemetery following services. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Ronald McDonald House, 73 Chapin Terrace, Springfield, MA 01107 or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis TN 38105.
