Wladyslawa (Gladys) Kos passed away peacefully at Birch Gardens Nursing Home on May 24th, 2017 at the age of 93. Born in Ruda, Poland she and her family immigrated in 1961 to Chicopee where she resided the rest of her life. Wladyshawa found great joy in her faith and was a communicant at St. Stanislaus Church in Chicopee where she was a member of the Rosary Society. Family and friends were an essential part in her life. Music, singing, and flowers were lifelong pleasures. She spent most of her working years as a clerk at Grochowski Universal Shipping & Clothing. Wladyshawa leaves her daughter, Anna Anderson; grandchildren: Ursula Boudreau, Stephanie Hodgdon, Veronica Anderson and William Anderson; four great-grandchildren; a brother, Aleksander, and sister, Jozefa Potok, both in Poland; and many nieces and nephews in the US and Poland. Special gratitude is expressed to her niece and god-daughter Izabela Szulc whose constant attention and care was ever present and brightened her days during her long nursing home stay. She was predeceased by her husband: Julian Kos, daughter: Irene Bean and siblings in Poland: Maria Killian, Janina Mroczek, Irena Bugajska, Gienowefa Pryga and Edward Walega. Visiting hours are on Tues. May 30th from 8:30-9:30 AM at Cierpial Memorial Home at 61 Grape St., Chicopee followed by a 10 AM Liturgy at St. Stanislaus church. Burial will be in St. Stanislaus Cemetery. Donations in her memory may be made to St. Stanislaus Ministry of Care, 566 Front St, Chicopee, MA 01013 or the activities fund at Chicopee Gardens, 44 New Lombard Rd, Chicopee, MA 01020.
